PE100 vs PE80: Reading Pipe Grade Ratings
2026-09-30 · Ascent Group Editorial
Pipe grade labels compress a lot of engineering. PE80 and PE100 are minimum required strength classes from ISO 9080 statistics on long-term hydrostatic data, and the number after PE is the MRS in MPa.
Standard dimension ratio turns strength into pressure: the same resin at SDR 11 carries more than twice the pressure of SDR 26. P6006 at PE100 lets designers use thinner walls for the same pressure, saving material on every kilometre.
When quotes arrive, compare MRS and SDR together with the certification scope. A resin classification alone does not certify a pipe series; the pipe maker's own hydrostatic and crack testing completes it.
