HMW-HDPE Film vs LLDPE Strength

2026-09-22 · Ascent Group Editorial

Two paths make strong film: tough blends of LLDPE, or high molecular weight HDPE whose long chains tie the whole web together. F00952 takes the second path, and the difference shows in downgauging.

LLDPE films gain strength from coextruded skins and added material. HMW-HDPE gains it from molecular architecture, so a 40 µm F00952 sack can match the drop performance of a thicker LLDPE laminate at lower resin cost per bag.

The trade-offs are line requirements: HMW resins need grooved feed sections and higher motor loads. Converters already running HMW lines for grocery sacks find F00952 a drop-in extension into liners and industrial film.
